To mark this year’s World Health Day on Tuesday 7th April, the Centre for Pesticide Suicide Prevention (CPSP) has launched a new film trailer, highlighting its commitment to preventing pesticide suicides.
We’re sharing the official trailer for Saving Lives, a short film featuring Professor Michael Eddleston and his work on preventing deaths from pesticide self-poisoning.
As a young doctor in rural Sri Lanka, he witnessed countless deaths from pesticide ingestion – often in moments of crisis, when people did not truly want to die. That experience set him on a decades-long mission to understand and prevent these deaths.
The film traces the origins of the Centre for Pesticide Suicide Prevention and highlights a simple but powerful truth: restricting access to the most hazardous pesticides can save tens of thousands of lives.
The full film will be released in the run-up to the World Health Assembly.
